Welcome to our site for "The LEGEND Band"!

The LEGEND Band was born in Pensacola Florida during June of 1992. The founding members are Sandra Kaye and Silva Saxon. The band was formed from premier musicians of this area who have worked with such entertainment giants as Reba McIntire, Hank Jr., Ricky Scaggs, Greg Allman and Pee Wee King, just to name a few. Using a format of Classic Rock, Blues, Country Classics, Current Top 40 Pop and their own hits, such as "Hard Drinkin' Good Timin' Woman", "Grandma's Song" and "Can't Let That Bother Me", The LEGEND Band has kept you dancing with a smile!

On July 6, 2003,"The LEGEND Band" performed on Sundays at The Red Baron Lounge in Pensacola. The Sundays worked out so well that club owner, Robert Little, wanted to add Thursday nights too. Thank you to everyone who showed up on Sundays and Thursdays to offer support and have some fun!!!

Club owner, Robert Little decided to close The Red Baron Lounge on September 7th, 2003. His comments were,"I did not buy this property for the Lounge and I do not want to be in the bar business! Even though the Red Baron Lounge is making me money, I am closing the Lounge. This is just a business decision!"
Whatever!!! It was later reopened by Terry Thomas and his brothers.

In The Begining:

"The LEGEND Band" was formed because Gene Chong had just bought back his legendary club called "Gene's Lounge" and needed a house band. Sandra Kaye had been taking a short break, after her four year stay at the Carousel Lounge as the "girl singer" for "The Mighty Carousels", when she received the call.
Silva Saxon, (keyboardist of The Mighty Carousels for 5 yrs.), who had been working on the road with the blues band, "Dick's Hat Band", decided he would come back to Pensacola and help Sandra Kaye form the band.

After 8 months at Gene's Lounge, "The LEGEND Band" moved on to Murphy's Two for a few month's, then on to The Dock for over 1 1/2 years! (That is where they met Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.) As The Dock remodeled to become Bali Hai, "The LEGEND Band" moved back to Gene's Lounge and made it through the Holidays with family. We opened the new Bali Hai but only stayed a few months. The new feeling was cold and the building was later gutted by a hurricane. On to the Ace of Hearts and back to Gene's Lounge during the week, then on to J.T.'s Lounge, and finally back to Pensacola beach for another 2 years as the house band at Bleacher's! Then it was back to J.T.'s Lounge, then to the Days Inn Pensacola. Last but not least, the travel to Tuscaloosa every week to play the Ramada Inn. This sums up our "house band" locations for a period of 7.5 years! My how time flies!

Silva Saxon and Sandra Kaye still struggled to keep the band together and keep the band member's pay coming in, even if they weren't getting paid themselves. Needless to say, the power company doesn't operate this way and they couldn't either.

"The LEGEND Band" had given up on the Nightclub/Barroom/Lounges/Whatever scenes to provide their weekly paychecks and a stage to generate the magic through their music. Their focus turned to the studio. The time had come to record all this music in our hearts, heads and fingers!  They have spent some time in Moonra Studio and more recently, with Lucky Kelson at the "LUCKY K Studio", in downtown Pensacola.

Lucky has a great Studio!

Karaoke became the next step for finding a paycheck and still providing musical entertainment to the public.

Sooooo,

!!!  IVAN ALERT  !!!

On September 16th 2004 Hurricane Ivan devisated Pensacola.
All live performances of The LEGEND Band are placed on hold as members try to rebuild their homes and lives.

Almost 2 years later, July 2006, members of "Rebuild Northwest Florida", Volunteers from different Churches in South Florida and Members of The "Church Of The Brethren" have come to the aid of Sandra Kaye! They are helping to replace walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, sinks, ect. so she will no longer be homeless.

Thank you for the help and God Bless You All!

The LEGEND Band will return to the studio soon!
During this two year period, we have lost many of our Musician Friends.
They will live on in our memories and our hearts and our prayers go out to their families.
